KENSIE + JON | GREENHOUSE TWO RIVERS | SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

2018-09-27_0012.jpg

I can’t help but smile when I’m around Kensie and Jon. They have a magnetic energy and laughter that makes you feel so loved. Even through the rainy weather at Greenhouse Two Rivers, the crazy humidity, and loosing Jon’s wedding ring during the exit (don’t worry, I took pictures to remember the moment ;), they stayed so positive and joyful!

Kensie and Jon’s story is a unique one, so I thought I’d let Kensie tell you about it! “Jon and I met from a mixture of mutual friends, a meddling sister, and Twitter! We knew of each other through my sister (they went to school together), then he tweeted at me for about a year before my sister meddled enough to get us to talk in person! I felt so nervous at first because he was a professor at the university I was attending, but as soon as we had our first date we were pretty much inseparable, despite the many awkward moments it held (the first thing he said after kissing me for the first time was "You're interesting"....Thank you? I think? LOL). Jon and I find that the perfect way to describe our relationship is just knowing that we are one another's safe place and that it always feels like "home" when we are together. All of the things that are hard for me become easy when I'm with Jon. The hardest conversations become good conversations, and the biggest struggles become moments of intimacy and growth when we are going through it together.”

When Kensie told me that it feels like home when her and Jon are together, that thought really stuck with me. The fact that they found each other in a world of over 7 billion people and how not everyone has the chance to experience that kind of love. I told them during their portraits that I wanted them to close their eyes and think about the word “home” and what it felt like to have found their home in each other. Pictures are so much more than staring at each other and snapping a picture in a pretty field. It’s allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to have your story captured in it’s most genuine state.

Hope you have fun in Cancun, love birds. Thanks for letting tell a little piece of your love story.

Some advice from Kensie and Jon >> “Enjoy where you're at! It's so easy to get caught up in the excitement and be stressed, but this is such an important and exciting season full of growth in your relationship. Enjoy every moment and take the time to work through the ways your relationship will change through marriage. It makes such a huge difference!”
